JAMB has revealed its latest plan of setting up a platform through which candidates could secure an appointment, before visiting its approved centres and offices nationwide for for change of courses, institutions and other data changing related services. This is to avoid overcrowding of such centres and offices in line with directives from the FG.
To break this down to your understanding, JAMB is working on discouraging physical presence while you perform your change of data in its portal. This implies that some features are being put in place in their portal in the form of user forms and questioners which candidates can use to provide all the necessary information required for the change(s). So, you are only required to be physically present in your nearest JAMB center if you have a problem that can not be solved through the new platform.
Over the years, the change of data in the board's portal by candidates usually follows few weeks after the release of JAMB results, but that of the year, 2020 has taken a new dimension due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and its consequential lock down of activities in some states and paralstatals by the federal government.
Several measures have been instituted by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, together with the Federal Ministry of Health to curtail the spread of the disease and protect the health of Nigerians. On the 30th of March, the Federal Government also imposed a lockdown of non-essential activities in the FCT, Lagos and Ogun States. Schools were not left out as school owners and proprietors directed for the suspension of academic and non academic activities till further notice.
